The Oscar for 'Best Motion Picture of the Year' went to 'The Departed,' beating 'The Queen,' 'Letters from Iwo Jima,' 'Little Miss Sunshine' and 'Babel'.

The awards were handed out last Sunday evening in the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles as Sci-Fi Universe offered live coverage of the unfolding events. The nominees were announced earlier on January 23rd at 5:38 a.m. PST by Academy president Sid Ganis and actress Salma Hayek, at the Samuel Godwyn Theater in the Academy's Beverly Hills headquarters.
