In the build up to the theatrical release of the hugely anticipated Spider-Man 3, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment brings us the two-disc DVD launch of Spider-Man 2.1: Extended Cut. An absolute must for all collectors, this limited release features eight minutes of never-before-seen footage including two brand new scenes, plus an introduction by producers Grant Curtis and Avi Arad, commentary by producer Laura Ziskin and two-time Oscar winning screenwriter Alvin Sargent (Julia, 1978; Ordinary People, 1981). The all-new bonus disc is packed with even more unmissable added value, including the featurettes Inside Spider-Man 2.1 and the Villains of Spider-Man 3, as well as a sneak peek of Spider-Man 3. The two-disc extended cut will be available to buy on DVD from 23rd April 2007.

Two years have passed, and the mild-mannered Peter Parker (TOBEY MAGUIRE, Seabiscuit) is struggling to balance his dual identities. Tormented by his secrets, Peter finds that his relationships with all those he holds dear – his best friend Harry Osborn (JAMES FRANCO, The Wicker Man), his beloved Aunt May (ROSEMARY HARRIS, Being Julia) and the beautiful M.J. (KIRSTEN DUNST, Marie Antoinette) – are in danger of unravelling. Desperate to lead a normal life again, he vows to turn his back on his powers and never wear the costume again. However, when brilliant scientist Dr Otto Octavius (ALFRED MOLINA, The Da Vinci Code) is transformed by a freak accident into the deranged tentacled super villain Dr Octopus, Peter knows that only Spider-Man can stop him.
